Welcome to the Community Foundation of Decatur/Macon County scholarship page. Below you will see a variety of scholarships that are held by the Foundation along with brochures and applications. Above, you will see links to the scholarship pages for students that attend local high schools in Macon County as well as Millikin University and Richland Community College.

Class of 1927 Scholarship
This scholarship is established in the name of the Class of 1927 by John Leighty, P.H.D., a graduate of Decatur High School in 1927, and by several others from the class. The award stipulated that if Stephen Decatur High School closed, the award would be divided equally between Eisenhower, MacArthur and St. Teresa High Schools. The selection criteria shall be: acceptance to an institution of higher education, financial need, good grades, good citizenship and being a well rounded student. The amount of the award is $1000.

CCSCI Charitable Fund Scholarship
The Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois created the CCSCI Charitable Fund to enhance community-based cancer awareness and education programs throughout Central Illinois. The CCSCI Charitable Fund Scholarship provides oncology/hematology education development opportunities to 1) healthcare professionals, including nurses, radiation therapists, laboratory technicians, and pharmacists, who provide oncology/hematology-related services in Central Illinois, and 2) individuals, including students, interested in pursuing oncology/hematology-related careers.

Decatur Foundry Scholarship
The purpose of this award is to provide a source of funding for higher education for qualified individuals who are an immediate family member of Decatur, Foundry, Inc. employee. The amount of the award is $1,000. As many as five awards can be given per year.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship
The MLK Scholarhip Award is to assist students who are pursuing
higher education. The scholarship is awarded to applicants who
best exemplify the ideals of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Golden K Kiwanis Club of Decatur Scholarship
The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to
students in the Macon County (Illinois) region attending
or planning to attend an accredited college or university.
The amount of the award and number of awards may vary each
year based on the fund's earnings.

The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation Scholarship
The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation is pleased to announce that
it will soon grant twenty $2,000 scholarships to deserving full-time college
students who are residents of Illinois and of Latino ancestry.

James W. Thomas Education Scholarship
James W. Thomas served in the Decatur Public Schools as a business teacher, coach, dean of students, assistant principal and principal from 1972 until 2002. This scholarship was established in his memory and honor by school staff, friends, and family members. The amount of the scholarship is $500 to a Decatur Public Schools graduate who is pursuing a college degree in education.

John Leman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides an opportunity to annually send an Eisenhower student to the University of Illinois Summer Youth Music Program, a seven day choral camp for talented high school vocalists.

The L. Mark Hanover Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this award is to provide commendation in the form of a paid scholarship to an outstanding undergraduate science student who plans to pursue a science degree at the University of Illinois. The amount of the award is $1,000.

Merrill Lindsay Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor Merrill Lindsay, a
distinguished leader in journalism. Mr. Lindsay was part of the
ownership of the Herald & Review and WSOY radio, and was a leader
in the broadcasting effort. It serves as a remembrance of Merrill
Lindsay and the values he held: high personal standards, doing
things right and doing them well, always learning, respect for
others and much hard work. The amount of the award is $500.

Michael E. Shampine Memorial Scholarship
Established by his union family to honor the memory of Michael E. Shampine, this fund is designed to provide a scholarship to an affiliated union member, or an immediate family member, who plans to enroll in continuing education. The scholarship will assist with enrollment in a degree program, qualified trades apprenticeship, or vocational school. The ideal recipient will be recognized as having a desire to succeed by demonstrating strengths in leadership, community and political awareness. The amount of the award is $500.

Robert G. Turner Scholarship
Robert Turner served as a teacher, coach, and administrator in the Decatur Public Schools, reaching the position of Associate Superintendent. He served as Principal of Eisenhower High School in 1970-71. In 1987, a scholarship was created in his memory to honor an outstanding social studies student who plans to enter the field of teaching or museology. The award is $500, with $500 a year for 3 consecutive years, with proof of college enrollment and progress toward degree completion.

Robert Witt Scholarship
Coach Robert Witt joined the Eisenhower staff when the building opened in January 1958 and taught and coached there for 33 years. He became the head basketball coach in 1970 and served in that position for the next 21 years. The Robert L. Witt Scholarship was created in 1991 to honor a deserving senior athlete who has displayed strong character, good sportsmanship, and citizenship, and been a dedicated team player. The amount of the award is $300.
SuEllen Brauer Scholarship
SuEllen Brauer taught Mathematics at Eisenhower High School for
33 years, serving as the mathematics department chairperson
for several of those years. SuEllen Brauer established this
scholarship in 2000 to be given to a student that has taken
math all four years and demonstrates good character and integrity.
The amount of the award is $500 ($250 per semester).
The Susan Swanson Memorial Scholarship
Susan was a graduate of Argenta-Oreana High School, and Illinois
State University with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in
Education. She was a special education teacher for 27 years
in the Decatur school district, and was voted Brush College
School Teacher of the Year. The purpose of the award is to
provide a scholarship full-time undergraduate student who
plans to complete a four year degree and is a child of a
member of the DEA or PBPA Unit 39. The amount of the award
is $1,000.

Victory Pharmacy Scholarship
This scholarship is distributed each year to a minority pharmacy
student who has graduated from either Eisenhower High School
or MacArthur High School and will be attending an accredited
school of pharmacy in the United States.

Walter Kirby Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established with the Decatur Public Schools
for a graduating senior in honor of Walter Kirby, a foreign language
teacher at MacArthur from the time of its opening in 1957 until
June 1974. This scholarship is to go to an outstanding student
of a foreign language. The amount of the award is $1,500.
