Macon County – The Community Foundation of Macon County is devoted to enhancing the quality of life in Macon County and enriching our community now and in the future. We work with our generous donors to help meet the pressing needs in our society and build upon great ideas for our future. The Community Foundation provides leadership and resources to help achieve positive change, representing the work of many hearts and hands spanning years of dedication to Macon County.
It is through this work and spirit of generosity we proudly announce the creation of our Community Engagement Grant Program. This newly developed program will contribute $300,000.00 in community grants over the next three years to not-for-profit organizations in Macon County. Each year of this initial three-year grant will have a priority focus. The Community Foundation expresses deep gratitude to our anonymous donor who is making the new grant program possible in hopes to build community capacity and support individual and community well-being.
2019 Program Details:
In 2019, The Community Foundation of Macon County will award up to ten $10,000 grants through the Community Engagement Grant Program. There is one grant cycle in 2019 with an open application period beginning today, March 26 and closing at 5:00 PM Friday, May 17. Grants will be awarded to not-for-profit organizations and other eligible agencies serving Macon County communities. The funding priority for the 2019 grant cycle is education and youth programs serving adolescents, ages birth through 18. The recipients of the 2019 Community Engagement Grants will be notified of their award by June 30th and all grantees will attend an awards celebration on July 23rd to commemorate the launch of this new grant program for the citizens of Macon County. “It is our vision this program will grow beyond the initial three years and other funders will follow the lead of this generous donor by joining our new Community Engagement Grant Program,” said Dani Craft, Community Foundation Vice President, Strategic Grantmaking and Community Advancement.
The Community Foundation of Macon County Board of Directors Chair, Cathy Mansur, reflected on the newly created grant program, “As a CPA, I understand the financial impact $10,000 can have on operations, especially for nonprofit organizations. It’s exciting to offer nonprofits the opportunity to apply for these grants in order to help meet the needs that they see firsthand and deal with daily. Putting the funds in their hands is the best way to support them – who better to decide how the funds can be best put to work other than those who are working to make a difference.”
