The Young Philanthropists is an initiative of The Community Foundation of Macon County designed to inspire young community leaders by joining together to be philanthropists.
By definition, philanthropists yearn to help other human beings. This group provides the foundation for starting one’s philanthropic efforts at a young age. Anyone over the age of 20 and ‘young at heart’ is welcome to join. In addition to philanthropy, there is ample opportunity to build new friendships through social events and simply working together for the common good of our local community.
How are grants made?
The annual grant award is made by pooling a portion of the membership donations and the earnings on the YP Fund.
Who decides which charitable organizations receive grants?
Young Philanthropists members participate in selection of the grantee.
Is my annual gift to the YP Fund tax deductible?
Yes. The annual member contribution is $125 per person, or $200 per couple.
